The exhibition, entitled ‘noi, voi ed io: i colori della collaborazione’ (we, you and I, the colours of collaboration) consists of a data physicalization installation that investigates colour as a tool to communicate, through visuality, individual and collective experiences of teamwork in design education.
The Teamwork Colour Matrix, consists of a grid for the evaluation of the collective work (we), of the teammates (you) and the self-assessment of one's work (I), over a given period, for example, during the development of a project. Using a palette of 8 versatile colours, each group member makes a colour representation of the collective work, selecting, coding and applying the colour in the matrix according to their perception of the lived experience. At the end of the exercise, each person shares with the others their vision of how the collective work went, relying on visual communication and colour as accessible and soft tools for dealing with sometimes difficult conflicts and conversations.
For this exhibition, after having proposed the exercise to more than 1,000 students mainly in digital mode, we presented our data exploration corresponding to 100 chosen matrices through their materialization (data physicalization) for the first time in an artistic-gallery context. In addition, we propose a critical reflection on the production of scientific knowledge, which is often limited to numbers, highlighting the qualitative and unique dimensions of human experience.
